ABOUT US

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not a single act, but a habit.”

A woodchipping pioneer, Alec Franz, arrived in Richards Bay in 1979 to establish the town’s first wood chip plant. A prominent business figure, he managed his operations around the world, often being invited to speak and share his expertise at international seminars. Alec retired in 2009 and started his own woodchipping consultancy company, spreading his experience and insight to wood chipping companies around the world. Although extremely well-travelled, Alec’s home and heart remained in Zululand with his family and friends. After the sudden loss of Alec in 2014, his son’s, Herman, Carl, Vernon and Alister took over the business and continued to strive for the perfection and service that Alec had always lived by. WCS (Woodchipping Services) is currently contracted to Mondi Business Paper and BayFibre Pty Ltd providing efficient and productive results.
